This was my first time to Molokai and I split my time between West and East -- they both have their merits, but love this East side so much. This was a perfect spot to just be and close enough to town to pop in for farmers market or a burger. Went and heard music at Coffees of Hawaii, played at the park, went to the beach... Wonderful. The place has a lovely decor and is very peaceful. I hate reviewing, because I don't want lots of folks to flock to what I want to return to -- but lately I have experienced multiple VRBO places that had 5 star ratings that did not at all deserve them but were mildewy, falling apart and flat out uncomfortable. This one does warrant the rating. It is everything you need, the view is fab, and Dan is responsive and kind. Lots of tips in the visitors book, which I will sign NEXT time I rent this same place. Don't go to Molokai without bringing things that matter a lot to you (like certain types of sunscreen etc). The cafes and spots are excellent fare/ value (Pizza Cafe, Molokai Burger, Kamoi snack and Go), the landscape perfect, and the place (Molokai and Dan's condo) are very special. Molokai, like each of the Islands, has its own character and demands reflection on the role of the visitor and what it means to travel gently and with care to where and how you move through the place with open ears and humility. I traveled alone, and was very comfortable doing so in Molokai though I am a seasoned traveler who almost always travels on her own.
