Peaceful Superferry Protest on Kauai

On Kauai Sunday, more than 100 people gathered in Nawiliwili harbor to protest the passage of the so-called Superferry bill.
One by one, demonstrators jumped into the water. In all more than 50 people formed a circle in the harbor as Coast Guard boats sat nearby. Dozens of other protestors stood on land.
They said this was a show of solidarity against Gov. Linda Lingle and lawmakers who paved the way for the Superferry to sail again while it conducts an EIS. They said ithey have no cripe, with supporters on Oahu.
"We welcome people from all of the neighbor islands," said protestor Andrea Bower. "We welcome anyone who wants to visit the island respectfully. We're just asking people to educate themselves on the Superferry and the ties between the Superferry and the military."
The protest was peaceful. There were no arrests, unlike a similar demonstration two months ago.
