Air-1 was called to assist when embers from the wildlife refuge fire flew across a dirt road and started a brushfire in the nearby pasture. The burning tree line in the wildlife refuge and leading edge of the fire in the pasture were knocked down by Air-1.
Approximately 2-1/2 acres of the pasture and one acre of the wildlife refuge burned before the fires were put under control at 2 pm.
A total of nine firefighters from the Kalâheo, Kapa‘a, and Lîhu‘e stations responded to the fire.
