New Service to Be Joined by Launch of Second-Daily Tokyo-Honolulu Flight on June 10
CHICAGO, June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Airlines (OTC Bulletin Board: UALAQ - News) today relaunched its daily nonstop service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Honolulu (HNL). The new Chicago service will complement United's existing 24 daily nonstop flights to Hawaii from its other U.S. hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver.
"As the leading airline connecting Hawaii with the U.S. mainland, we are thrilled to once again be offering daily service between Honolulu and Chicago, our hometown and largest hub," said Martin White, senior vice president - Marketing, United Airlines. "With more flights out of Chicago-O'Hare than any other airline, United also offers its customers the best choice of connections to Hawaii from cities in the Midwest, South and East Coast."
United also flies daily to Honolulu nonstop from both Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. On June 10, United will inaugurate a second daily Tokyo-Honolulu flight with a Boeing 777 aircraft.
"This expansion is in response to a steady rise in customer demand across the Pacific and builds on our leadership serving the Hawaiian Islands," said Graham Atkinson, senior vice president - Worldwide Sales and Alliances, United Airlines.
United flight 1, a Boeing 777 aircraft configured with 36 seats in United First® and 312 seats in United Economy®, left Chicago O'Hare at 10:15 a.m., amid hula dancers and Hawaiian music. It will arrive in Honolulu at 1:45 p.m. local time, where its passengers will be greeted with individual lei wreathes. The return leg, United flight 2, will depart Honolulu at 4:25 p.m. and arrive back at Chicago O'Hare at 5:15 a.m. the next morning.
In 2003, United entered into a long-term relationship with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) to provide air lift to and from the Hawaiian Islands from United's hubs in Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco. United's new Chicago service is now included in this agreement, whereby United sets aside blocks of seats for cruise-bound passengers who will journey on NCL's Hawaii-based ships. When the NCL sells an air, cruise and stay package, United is the primary carrier.
United flies to four Hawaiian Islands -- Oahu, Maui, Hawaii and Kauai -- and has been serving Hawaii since 1947.
United, United Express and Ted operate more than 3,500 flights a day on a route network that spans the globe. News releases and other information about United can be found at the company's web site at http://www.united.com .
