Oil prices edge down, as do most Hawaii gas prices

Oil prices edge down, as do most Hawaii gas prices
- 2004-06-07 - Pacific Business News (Honolulu)

Gasoline prices across Hawaii are still quite close to recent record highs, but there has been some slight easing back, based on AAA's daily retail price survey for Monday morning. This accords with a falling back of crude oil prices.

The AAA average prices for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline at its usual three sampling locations, based on the last credit card transactions of the day at several gas-and-go operations:

Honolulu: $2.24, 1.4 cents below the record set May 28.
Hilo: $2.38 1/10, a new record.
Wailuku: $2.61 4/10, down more than a nickel from June 3.
Prices are significantly higher than the Hilo average on the Kona side of the Big Island, where motorists have been paying more than $2.70 a gallon, and are usually higher still in Hana. Prices are very high on Lanai, Molokai and Kauai as well.

Hawaii continues to have the most expensive gasoline in the nation, but not in Honolulu, where prices remain lower than in all the major cities on the West Coast.
