Former Army General Joins BancWest Board
HONOLULU -
Retired Army Gen. Eric K. Shinseki has been named to the board of directors of BancWest Corp., the parent company of irst Hawaiian Bank announced Thursday.
Shinseki, a Kauai native, was the Army's chief of staff when he retired last August after a 38-year military career.
Shinseki, 61, served as chief of staff under Presidents Clinton and Bush. He was the first Hawaii native and first Asian-American to attain the rank of four-star general as well as the Army's highest leadership position.
Shinseki served two combat tours in Vietnam and later served as the commander of Army forces in Europe and of NATO peacekeepers in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Honolulu-based BancWest is a financial holding company with assets of $38.9 billion."
