Melbourne's Abbie Cardwell Wins International Music Award
Melbourne singer/songwriter Abbie Cardwell won first prize for songwriting at the Kauai Music Festival in Hawaii last week.
Her winning song was 'Anchored', released recently in Australia on her 'Love Hotel' EP. Judges for the award were Brad Arnold, lead singer of 3 Doors Down. Grammy winner Russ Titelman, Emmy Award Winner Hugh Prestwood, Country Music Award Winner Frank Myers and Award winning producer and engineer David Tickle.
"I am totally overwhelmed to receive such recognition from so many highly respected and talented songwriters and producers" she said in a statement. "And the icing on the cake was the 1960's re-issue Les Paul guitar and diamond necklace and earring set as part of the prize."
As part of the prize, Abbie will also travel to New York and Los Angeles for a guaranteed spot in the BMI showcases.
Next week she will head to Nashville for a songwriting workshop.
