When is the Restaurant Going to Open? The Bali Hai Restaurant and Happy Talk Lounge were both closed some time ago when Celebrity Resorts got into financial trouble soon after acquiring them. Both facilities were subsequently purchased by a local restaurant owner who was working towards a Grand Re-opening of the Happy Talk when a fire broke out in July of 2011 and did extensive damage to the roof and kitchen of the building resulting in their demolition. Re-construction is planned to start in 2013. We will post more information about an expected opening as soon as we have this information.
Can I walk to the beach? Yes, a paved path leads to a large and lovely white-sand beach just below the resort. This is a great beach for sunning and snorkeling. The Princeville Hotel operates a restaurant here and you can also rent sea kayaks when the bay is calm. The walk down to the beach is about 8-10 minutes or you can have the bellman shuttle you down and back in shuttle (golf) carts.
Will I notice any differences renting from you or renting directly from the resort? No, as the guests of an owner, you have the same license to use all the resort's amenities as do guests of the resort operator. An advantage to renting from a private owner through SummitPacific is that you get to see pictures and read descriptions of the actual unit you are renting before you make your reservation. The resort operator will only be able to tell you the type of unit you will be renting.
Do we get to use the pools, hot-tub, and tennis courts?
Of course you can, and at no extra charge. You might also want to sign up for some tennis lessons.

How do I get to Kauai?
Do I need to rent a car? Yes, you will want to rent a car at the Lihue Airport. You'll need it for sightseeing, shopping, and getting around. Nearly all major rental car companies including Avis, Dollar, Alamo, Enterprise and Thrifty are on Kauai. SummitPacific has negotiated discounts with the major companies of up to 70% off normal Hawaii Car Rental rates. You can cancel at any time without penalty. During busy times, cars rentals can become limited, and all the companies usually run out of cars during Christmas and other peak seasons. Reserve your car early through SummitPacific.
How Close Is Hanalei Bay Resort to the Princeville St. Regis Hotel?
Very close. The two properties are exactly adjacent to each other and little more than a stone's throw away...well okay if you've got a really good arm... However, each property sits on its own bluff and a deep ravine separates the two. Guests easily walk back and forth, or shuttle, using each property's beach access. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from HBR down the beach path to the Princeville's pool; there you can take their elevators up to their lobby, restaurants, conference rooms, etc. Keep in mind that walking back up to HBR is a steep hike in dress shoes; you might consider calling HBR's bellman to meet you at the bottom of the hill for a free ride up.

Is Internet Service available? Internet Service is Available to each condo suite (not available in all lock-out condo hotel rooms) through Time Warner at $10.40 per day or $40 per week. The internet access fee is paid directly to Time Warner by the guest when they access the internet service. WiFi is available in and around the lobby.
What are the Resort Fees? In addition to any amounts that you pay to the owner to rent their unit, Hanalei Bay Resort has two fees that they also charge to guests that check-in. The first is a $25 "Check-in fee" that compensates the resort for operating the front desk and checking you in. They also charge a "Resort Fee" of $5 per day. This fee covers free parking, free tennis, and free local phone service.
Can we walk to the town of Hanalei from the Resort? Although Hanalei Bay Resort is quite close to the town of Hanalei as the crow flies, it is a long walk. Hanalei Bay Resort is located in the community of Princeville which is on a bluff. The Hanalei River also separates the two areas. The easiest way to get to the town of Hanalei from Princeville is by car and it's about an 8 mile drive on a two lane road, down the bluff and across the Hanalei Bridge. The beach below Hanalei Bay Resort is on the northeast corner of Hanalei Bay and very close to the Hanalei Pier. However, you can only walk as close as the mouth of the river. As long as the river isn't raging, it's just a short swim (or deep wade) to get to the other side.
