The Bali Hai Restaurant Remains Closed

Happy Talk Lounge and Bali Hai Restuarant remain closed. Although the Happy Talk was expected to open in mid to late 2011, damage from a fire in the roof of the building on July 1, 2011 made it impossible to open either restaurant until extensive damage can be repaired.

As of January 2012, plans for reconstruction are in the architectural/permit stage.

Clearly the former Bali Hai Restaurant will not be in a position to open until the construction is completed from the fire damage. The kitchen for both restaurants was destroyed in the fire. While the Happy Talk did not sustain any damage, access to the lounge could be problematic since the lobby will be closed during construction. However, the owners are evaluating options to possibly open the bar.

Of course, Hanalei Bay Resort (a separate entity from the restaurants) is not affected by this closure and remains open along with most resort amenities. (The Sundry Shop and the Fitness Center remain closed).

A poolside barbeque with hamburgers and hotdogs is available.




Sunset Diner at Bali Hai Restaurant Bali Hai Restaurant at Hanalei Bay Resort is a wonderful place to watch the sunset and enjoy Pacific Rim cuisine. This place is about as romantic as it gets with open air seating in a lush tropical setting, with stunning views across Hanalei Bay of the mountains and sunset over Bali Hai that you won't soon forget.

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
